Speciality chemicals and intermediates producer Omkar Speciality Chemicals Ltd (OSCL) is investing Rup 50 crore to expand its facilities in Maharashtra, India. Half of that investment will go to a 1950 tonne capacity addition at the company's Badlapur plant, where it currently manufactures 1700 tonnes/y of products for the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) sector. Work on the project is underway and commercial production is expected to begin by Jun-Jul 2013. OSCL is also slated to start up a 2800 tonne/y plant in Nov 2012 to produce intermediates for anti-cholesterol, anti-depression and cardiovascular drugs. The company posted a top line of Rup 161 crore in FY 2011. It expects a 40-45% growth in FY 2012, supported by the capacity expansion and new molecules in the pipeline.
